Chuck Schumer

Friend,

This weekend, we watched in horror as we learned that 10 people were killed in a mass shooting at a supermarket in Buffalo.

10 innocent people who just wanted to do their grocery shopping are never going home, and their families and community are left with 10 unfillable voids.

My heart aches for the victims, their families, and the entire city of Buffalo.

This was a heinous act fueled by white supremacy and hatred -- and it's part of an ugly pattern of violence against Black Americans. Racism is still the poison of America, and the right-wing media ecosystem allows it to fester. Outlets like Fox News and Tucker Carlson continue to spread racist lies like replacement theory on their airwaves, and they must stop.

Today we say loud and clear: This kind of racism has no place in Buffalo, in New York, or in America. We must remain committed to rooting out bigotry and hatred once and for all.

In tough times, I know New Yorkers come together. Now more than ever, I know that's true. Today, all of New York and all of America stands together with the people of Buffalo and we open our hearts to every single person impacted by this despicable attack.

Sincerely,

Chuck Schumer
