As we shared not long ago, it’s "shareholder season" and there are many efforts underway to hold corporations accountable by working with their own investors. Chevron is a prime example, as its management operates with no oversight or accountability. At least one resolution it faces next week seeks to change that.
We need to pressure Chevron's biggest institutional investors to ACT NOW and vote FOR Resolution #10 on May 25 at the Chevron AGM. This resolution would allow for concerned shareholders to force management to meet to discuss its environmental and human rights crimes. It is a critical step towards accountability.
Chevron – the historic leader in global warming emissions among all investor-owned oil companies – has earned a reputation as a systemic human rights violator and gross polluter which engages in intimidation tactics against its critics and the media.
Chevron not only refuses to pay to clean up the 16 billion gallons of toxic waste it admitted to deliberately dumping in the Amazon, but a new report shows it owes over $50 billion to communities and governments around the world.
Take action TODAY to tell the largest institutional investors in Chevron to support Resolution #10. There are only a few days left to rally the vote, so please act now.
Thank you!
