Team,
It's official: I've filed for reelection, and I'm more motivated than ever to continue fighting for our community.
From my days working in economic development to serving in the Washington state Capitol, and now as your representative in Congress it has been my honor to serve the people of our region.
In recent years, we’ve made progress in the effort to help our nation recover from the pandemic. We’ve made progress in supporting our military families and veterans — including building a new VA clinic in Kitsap County. We’ve made progress in securing record funding for salmon restoration and Puget Sound recovery. We’ve made progress by passing a historic infrastructure bill that will fix our roads and bridges and give people access to broadband.
With you by my side, I am proud of the work we've accomplished. But our work is not over yet.
We have work to do to ensure all seniors can retire with dignity. That’s why I’ve been working to increase Social Security benefits and empower Medicare to negotiate lower prices for prescription drugs.
We have work to do on behalf of middle-class families that are being squeezed by inflation and rising gas prices. That’s why I’m working to pass an American competitiveness bill to prevent price increases caused by supply chain problems and to crack down on price gouging by oil companies.
We have work to do to protect our democracy. That’s why I’m fighting for a new Voting Rights Act to combat voter suppression and protect the voting rights of every American. We have work to do to combat the climate crisis and invest in climate resilience. That’s why I’ve supported legislation to address this generational challenge.
And we have work to do to stand up for reproductive health care. With the Senate failing to pass the Women's Health Protection Act and the Supreme Court poised to overturn Roe, it's clear that we can't leave a single seat in the House or Senate up to chance!
My name will be on the ballot this November, and I'm hoping that I can count on the support of this grassroots team to build another winning campaign. Will you help my campaign keep going strong by contributing today?
As always, it's an honor to serve you,
Derek Kilmer
