Social Justice & Our Food System
Community Learning Program

Last year, we hosted the first cohort of our Social Justice & Our Food System Community Learning Program and it was an incredibly powerful and uplifting experience!

Farm Sanctuary’s Social Justice & Our Food System Community Learning Program offers a unique opportunity to be in community and conversation around veganism and issues of social justice in the United States food system.

We are very excited to announce that we are planning for two new cohorts beginning in September 2022. One of the cohorts will be dedicated to educators, including K-12 teachers and college/university professors. We would love to have you apply to join us and become part of this growing community committed to fostering a more just and compassionate food system and world.

The Social Justice & Our Food System Community Learning Program is a free virtual 13-week program that incorporates community-building, dialogue, and reflection alongside a compilation of videos from guest speakers, a curated reading list, and a collection of educational resources. During each week of the program, participants take part in a highly interactive and participatory 2-hour virtual community meeting for shared learning and discussion.

LEARN MORE

The program features speaker videos and learning content from individuals such as:

  • pattrice jones, writer, educator, and co-founder of VINE Sanctuary
  • lauren Ornelas, founder and president of Food Empowerment Project
  • Christopher Sebastian McJetters, author, researcher and lecturer
  • Syl and Aph Ko, co-authors of Aphro-ism: Essays on Pop Culture, Feminism, and Black Veganism from Two Sisters

  • Claudia Serrato, Indigenous Culinary Anthropologist

The program is open to individuals of any age, 18 and older, who are interested in social justice and veganism. We are looking for participants whose interests, experience, and intended application of their learning best align with the goals and content of the program. Historically, we have received many applications for a limited number of spots, so we are unable to accept everyone who applies.

The program runs from the week of September 6 through the week of December 2, with a one-week and a two-week break incorporated into the program. Both of the cohorts are limited to 20 participants and spots are expected to fill up quickly. Apply today!

Program applications will be accepted through June 30, 2022.
