John,
This weekend I was pleased to visit with and speak to delegates at the Republican Party of Minnesota’s state convention in Rochester. As I shared with them, we need to put an end to the single-party control in Washington by firing Nancy Pelosi and making sure Tim Walz is a one-term governor here in Minnesota. I was encouraged by the energy and enthusiasm at the convention and look forward to seeing many of them and you on the campaign trail this summer and fall!
Stop the War on American Energy!
As you and your families are struggling with gas prices that are slowly creeping towards $5 a gallon, Joe Biden is waging a war on American energy. Just last week he recklessly canceled more oil and gas leases. Rather than increase our energy dependence on foreign countries, many hostile, Biden should be implementing commonsense policy that promotes domestic production, by:
- Ending the federal freeze on new oil and gas leases
- Fast-tracking pending LNG export permits
- Expediting approval of all pipeline and energy development
- Stopping the regulatory assault on U.S. energy development and financing
I had an exciting visit recently to the Gulf of Mexico's largest offshore oil platform learning more about how we could be energy independent. Rather than rely on hostile countries in hostile regions, we need to end the war on American energy and encourage, not discourage, our energy industry! Check out Fox News report on my trip here.
Mining Critical Minerals – Let’s Update Permitting Process
Everything in this world is either grown or mined, and if we don’t grow it or mine it in America, we import it. Events from the past few years, namely the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, have highlighted America’s hunger for metals, including copper, nickel, cobalt, platinum-group elements, and more. We need to boost domestic production. Instead, the majority is putting up more arbitrary hurdles, like the so-called “Clean Energy Minerals Reform Act.” Don’t let the name fool you. This legislation will make it even harder to access clean energy minerals domestically while furthering our reliance on Russia, China, and the Congo. The bill contains several provisions that contribute to longtime goals of the Left: dissuade investment in mining and choke projects to death with an unpredictable permitting process. Check out my op-ed on the need to consider serious proposals that grow mining in America and secure our domestic supply chains.
