John -- We’ve got one more day to turn out the vote in Kentucky, North Carolina, Oregon, and Pennsylvania.
There’s a lot on the line tomorrow. For starters, Tuesday is our first step towards stripping Joe Manchin of his veto power by electing bold progressives Charles Booker and Malcolm Kenyatta to control the Senate swing vote.
Tomorrow is also our chance to stop an anti-abortion Democrat in North Carolina by electing Erica Smith in NC-01.
And in Oregon, we can shut down a pipeline-promoting, fossil fuel-funded establishment politician and elect a climate champion in OR-04, Doyle Canning.
Altogether there are six BNC candidates on ballots across the country tomorrow, and next week Jessica Cisneros will square off with another anti-abortion Dem, Henry Cuellar, once again.
We’ve been focused on getting out the vote, and fundraising has really fallen behind. While we did make up some ground in the last few days, we’re still about $2,500 short of our mid-month target.
It’s essential that we close that gap by midnight tonight, or we risk falling further behind when our candidates are counting on us the most. We only need 100 people to give $25 to catch back up. Can you rush a $25 contribution now?
You’ll hear from a lot of Democrats that abortion care is on the ballot this year. Yet the entire House Democratic leadership has been down in Texas campaigning for Henry Cuellar – a member of their caucus who stridently opposes abortion.
And no one in national party leadership has spoken out against Erica Smith’s primary opponent for his position against abortion rights. That’s not leadership, that’s hypocrisy. We have a chance to do better starting tomorrow.
Brand New Congress is working hard to elect a radically different kind of representative. Our candidates are not career politicians. They don’t come from wealth, and they aren’t political insiders.
Our candidates are teachers and nurses; small business owners and engineers; union organizers and nonprofit leaders; organizers and activists. They are working moms, single parents, and immigrants.
