When my husband and I started our family, I saw the struggles everyday Kansans were facing, and I knew I needed to do something. So, I ran for the state Senate -- and won. I spent nearly 15 years fighting for Kansas families in the state legislature.
When I saw the destruction Sam Brownback's administration brought to our state -- defunded schools, crumbling infrastructure, a struggling economy, and a tax plan that hurt our middle class -- I knew I had to act. So, I announced my candidacy for governor in 2018.
And now, as I look at all the progress we've made together, including balancing the state budget, fully funding our schools, axing the food tax, and creating more jobs, I can't imagine how painful it would be to watch our hard work erased by a politician who'd take us back to the failed policies of the Brownback era.
That's why I'm running again, and why I'm asking you to continue on this journey with me.
