[ [link removed] ]Welch for Vermont
Hello,
I’d like to take a moment to talk about what I’ve noticed in Peter over
the years, and why he’s exactly the type of public servant we need at this
moment. But first, let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I’m a third-generation Vermonter, but I didn’t grow up here because my
family lived overseas while my father served our country as a career
Foreign Service officer. I grew up in Malaysia, the Netherlands, India,
Peru, and Nicaragua, where I always attended neighborhood schools in the
local language. After working as a journalist in Washington, I moved to
Vermont to be near family and got involved in local community issues
here—as a school board member, school board chair, and then state
legislator.
Peter and I first met through public service. I was on the interstate
school board at the time, and he was in the Vermont Senate, and a
colleague and I had a hard question about school funding that we wanted to
talk to him about. I could tell right away that he was a great listener,
and that he would put his head down to work with others to solve problems.
Peter and I have been married almost 14 years now. We never tire of
talking (especially about solving the climate crisis), and I’ve watched
him fight for Vermonters from the Statehouse to the U.S. House.

Now, Peter is running to be Vermont’s next senator. We need to show the
broad support he’s building from the grassroots level. [ [link removed] ]So I’m asking:
will you add your name to say you officially support Peter?
[ [link removed] ]JOIN OUR TEAM
Peter’s running for Senate because our democracy is under threat, and
because he knows we need All Hands On Deck to deliver progress.
From his days fighting housing discrimination in Chicago to his time as
Vermont’s congressman, he’s worked consistently to advance social, racial,
and economic justice—to address inequality and remove barriers to
opportunity.
That’s why he’s committed to raising wages, lowering costs like housing
and prescription drugs, getting the wealthy to pay their fair share of
taxes, solving the climate crisis with its disproportionate harms on
low-income Americans and people of color, and putting Washington on the
side of families.
Peter’s ready to hit the ground running on Day One as a U.S. senator—and
he’ll deliver results the Vermont way, by focusing on solutions and
listening more than he talks. But we need your support to elect him. [ [link removed] ]If
you believe in his vision for Vermont and our country, add your name right
away to say you’re on this team.
Thanks,
Margaret
