Dear John,
Greed and power continue to be the attributes of many CEOs of top businesses. These people continue to put profits over the well-being of their workers, all while instilling their workers with fears that they are easily replaceable, unworthy of a livable wage, and their safety is not a concern.
Jobs With Justice exists specifically to call out these employers and show their workers the power of joining a union. Here are some of our top offenders:
Jeff Bezos and Andy Jassy
Amazon
As Amazon’s profits continue to increase, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy follows in Jeff Bezos’ footsteps by continuing the practice of worker exploitation and union busting. Amazon has refused to accept their workers in multiple locations desire to unionize and have for many years fought against organizing efforts. Despite the company’s best efforts, workers won their election in Staten Island and are awaiting the results of the election in Bessemer, Alabama. We continue to support the organizing work and stand in solidarity with these incredible workers.

Howard Schultz
Starbucks
When Starbucks baristas in Buffalo, New York started organizing to fight for better wages, benefits, and health protections, they were met with an onslaught of anti-union messaging and scare tactics from CEO Howard Schultz and other company executives. Jobs With Justice’s affiliate in Buffalo, the Coalition for Economic Justice, pounded the pavement with community members and customers to show solidarity for the baristas. This location’s unionization ignited a movement across the country of Starbucks workers organizing and mobilizing to have a voice on the job.

Sonoma County, California Winery Owners
Wildfires continue to ravage California, decimate their surroundings, and create a national pollution crisis. Meanwhile, winery and vineyard workers are still required to go to work without proper health and safety protections just so their employer can maximize profit. In Sonoma County, our local coalition North Bay Jobs With Justice helped launched the 5 for Farmworker Fire campaign which demands language justice, disaster insurance, community safety observers, hazard pay and clean bathrooms and water. Farmworkers were also provided with important health equipment, while helping organize events to educate the community around the harm these wineries are causing their environment. Jobs With Justice will continue to support these workers as they demand a safe, dignified life.
Help us take down these bad actors and make the world a better place for workers. We are just $3,024 shy of reaching our fundraising goal of $25,000 by the end of TODAY to ensure we can amplify our innovative campaigns and support as many organizing workers as possible.
In Solidarity,
Joel Mendelson
