My name is Erica Smith — a pro-choice mom, pastor, educator, and former state senator running to protect a wide-open, swing seat in NC-01. And I’m facing the most anti-choice elected Democrat in North Carolina in a primary election on May 17th.
The overturning of Roe v. Wade now appears imminent, and the stakes in this race just got higher.
We need pro-choice champions in Congress who will codify Roe v. Wade. And I promise I will always fight to protect nationwide abortion access if elected. But right now, my anti-choice opponent and dark money groups backing him are spending big to defeat us.
Abortion is healthcare and healthcare is a human right. That’s why, in the North Carolina State Senate, I worked to protect reproductive rights.
On the other hand, my opponent voted with Republicans to defund Planned Parenthood, criminalize doctors providing abortion services, and restrict access to reproductive healthcare.
With reproductive rights at stake, we can’t afford to send an anti-choice Democrat to Congress — but time is running out in this race and I need your support.
