Hi Jack,

I wanted to make sure you saw this from Sam. We’re excited about the chance to protect Atkins Place, adding another critical puzzle piece to the protected lands around the old growth of Montgomery Woods Nature Preserve in Mendocino County in Northern California.

We are on track to meet our fundraising goal, but we still need help from generous donors like you. Pitch in now to help us protect Atkins Place! [[link removed]]

You can find out more about the significance of this scenic property in Sam’s email below, and I hope that you’ll have a chance to visit and see it for yourself one day, too.

Dear Jack,

I am writing to share a little bit about the League’s latest conservation news: a chance to acquire 453 acres in Mendocino County in Northern California known as Atkins Place .

Not only is the landscape at Atkins Place beautiful, it is a critical habitat corridor that will provide a buffer to safeguard the wildlife and old-growth of Montgomery Woods Nature Preserve and surrounding lands.

It’s a thrilling opportunity, and one that we cannot realize without your support.

Give today to be part of this opportunity: Every dollar counts toward our $1.3 million fundraising goal to protect Atkins Place. [[link removed]]

Montgomery Woods is a hidden gem, nestled in an elevated bowl of a valley on the eastern edge of the Mendocino County redwoods. A stream winds through what some consider the most scenic redwood grove in the world. Like many of the parks that the League has helped to create, Montgomery Woods came together piece by piece, and Atkins Place would be one of numerous purchases to be added to this landscape.

If we do not act now, Atkins Place could be subdivided into three separate parcels for residential development, introducing new threats to the old-growth of Montgomery Woods. Old-growth redwoods cannot thrive in unprotected forest islands, exposed to the impacts of development.
By purchasing Atkins Place, we fit in another puzzle piece to protect a thriving ecosystem that will last for generations.

If you can, please make a gift today to keep our fundraising goal on track and help protect the precious old-growth of Montgomery Woods. [[link removed]]
I know I will never forget my own first visit to Montgomery Woods, taking the long way home after a meeting in Fort Bragg to get a dose of awe and inspiration. Our hope is that Atkins Place will create more opportunities like this for visitors.

Let’s make this purchase a reality! [[link removed]] I hope to meet you out on this trail one day, experiencing the wonders of this grove.

With gratitude,

Sam Hodder
President and CEO

P.S. You can help us acquire this hidden gem named Atkins Place. Please give today. [[link removed]]
