Clean Power Coalition Call-in Day:
Give We Energies a call today!
We Energies President and CEO Scott Lauber recently said that they “have set some of the most aggressive goals in our industry for reducing carbon and methane emissions,” yet they still want to run the Elm Road coal plant for years to come, and their proposed transition off of coal is a transition to gas.
We know gas comes with significant methane emissions and negative impacts for health and climate, not to mention its high cost. We need them to instead invest in more renewable energy, like solar and wind. Scott Lauber and We Energies need to hear from customers like you. Please call them and let them know their plan isn’t enough – no coal and no gas, we want clean energy!
Please take a few minutes today to call Scott Lauber! Feel free to adapt the script below.
Scott Lauber, President and CEO of We Energies: 414-221-2345
Script:
Hello, I am _______ from _______. Thank you for taking my call today.
I’m calling because I’m greatly concerned about the climate crisis and the future life of people on this planet. The burning of Fossil fuels, especially coal, is a leading cause of our climate crisis. True, we are very dependent on electrical energy, but I want it to come from renewable sources. I ask that We Energies do three things:
- Invest in more solar and wind energy and allow Third Party solar installations
- Close down all coal burning units at the Elm Road plant, and
- Do not use natural gas as a “transition” fuel. It too, is a fossil fuel and will only add to CO2 emissions.
We Energies has the great potential to help rather than hinder the switch to renewable energy. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear about more positive actions you will be taking to reduce the climate crisis.
Thank you for all that you do for clean air, health, and more!
