Dear DRA Supporters,

As recent news has made incredibly clear, our court system has the power to make dramatic changes in the lives of millions of people across the nation—for better or worse. I write today to ask you to invest in an organization that, through case-by-precedent-setting court case, envisions a world free from discrimination and where people with disabilities are valued members of their communities with equal access to opportunity. Support DRA’s bold vision and fearless clients. Support court cases that bring about access and equality. Make your gift to DRA today.

For nearly 30 years, DRA has represented people from all backgrounds and across the disability spectrum, achieving justice for people with disabilities seeking fair access to health care, employment, education, transportation, technology, voting, and housing. This year DRA is shining a light on the people and organizations who breathe life into our precedent-setting cases. I’m excited to introduce you to Jean, Dr. Sharon, and Christina.

"We want change. We need change. We want our rights…Nobody is like DRA. If they are, I haven’t found them.”

“DRA has been a champion with CIDNY as they file multiple lawsuits to get the City of New York or MTA more compliant. They are making sure that New Yorkers with disabilities are still able to enjoy the city and have access and be able to live safely in a city that has a lot of barriers.”

-Dr. Sharon McLennon-Wier, Center For Independence of the Disabled, New York and DRA Client

“I can only say that if DRA is involved, then that means change will occur. I know that.”

Through the tenacity and talent of these incredible clients, combined with DRA’s experienced and strategic legal team, DRA is protecting the civil rights of millions of Americans with disabilities. In the last few months alone we:
* Achieved drastic improvements in the provision of special education services ([link removed]) for young adults with disabilities in New Jersey prisons;
* Secured class certification in our 2019 case filed against the City of Chicago challenging the systemic lack of accessible pedestrian signals ([link removed]) ;
* Obtained a ruling resulting in voters with vision and print disabilities being able to ask the person of their choice to help them complete a paper absentee ballot in Indiana ([link removed]) , expanding voting rights in future elections; and
* Settled with New York’s Board of Elections to create a statewide accessible absentee voting program that allows disabled voters to privately and independently fill out a remote, accessible vote-by mail ballot online ([link removed]) .

Want to fuel more court victories like these? Every dollar you give to DRA helps us bring and win more game-changing cases on behalf of Jean, Dr. Sharon, Christina, and millions of the rest of us who live with disabilities.

Thank you for joining us as we push onward to a brighter, bolder, more inclusive future,

Kathy Martinez, President & CEO
