• Early voting in the primary runoff elections begins today and continues through Friday, May 20. Election Day is Tuesday, May 24. 
   
• In these races, no candidate was able to secure more than 50 percent of the vote in the March primary election. 
   
• As part of our Decision Texas coverage of elections across the state, Texas Scorecard invited all Republican statewide runoff candidates for an interview where we asked questions contributed by you, our readers.

Attorney General

The Republican race for Attorney General sees incumbent Ken Paxton facing off against Land Commissioner George P. Bush. 

In our conversation with Paxton, we asked about issues ranging from what more the office of the attorney general can do to combat voter fraud to whether Texas declare the crisis at the southern border an invasion.

George P. Bush declined an invitation to participate.

Land Commissioner

George P. Bush's run for Attorney General has opened up the seat for Land Commissioner. With an original field of eight Republican candidates vying for the position, the field has narrowed to two: State Sen. Dawn Buckingham and Dr. Tim Westley.

We asked both candidates about the challenges facing the commission, their role in protecting monuments and historical sites such as the Alamo, and why each of them believe they are most qualified for the position.

Railroad Commissioner

Despite its name, the railroad commission oversees oil and gas in the state. Three railroad commissioners serve staggered six-year terms, with one commissioner facing statewide election every two years. 

Incumbent Wayne Christian faces attorney Sarah Stogner in the Republican primary runoff. 

We asked Wayne Christian questions from readers about his time on the commission, the challenges of rising fuel costs, and allegations of corruption from his opponent.

Sarah Stogner declined an invitation to participate.
