Hi John, I just wrapped up a meeting with some of my campaign staff, and because you're a valued member of this grassroots team, I wanted to give you an update about where things stand before our critical FEC fundraising deadline in the coming days.
Here's what you need to know: Mitch McConnell is hell-bent on taking back the Senate and just needs to flip one seat to pull it off – and his allies already have $44 MILLION in the bank to protect Republican incumbents and go on the offensive. Competing for every single seat matters immensely if Democrats hope to hang on to Senate control, which is why our race to defeat Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) is absolutely crucial.
You see, Sen. Grassley is more vulnerable than he's been in his entire decades-long career. Earlier in our campaign, polling showed that almost 2 out of every 3 likely Iowa voters didn't want to reelect him. NOW, new polling from The Des Moines Register shows Sen. Grassley at the highest record disapproval rating EVER in an Iowa poll. Democrats have never had a better opportunity to flip this seat blue – and as the youngest woman to flip a House seat from red to blue, I have every intention of defeating Sen. Grassley and lifting up the voices of working-class families in the Senate.
Those tens of millions of dollars Mitch McConnell's allies have raised? They can tap into that campaign war chest at a moment's notice to destroy our momentum and protect Sen. Grassley. The Senate GOP campaign arm and Fox News have already attacked candidates like me. We've got to build up resources to compete and show our strength so we set out an ambitious $75,000 FEC fundraising goal – and we still need to raise $5,000 before 11:59 p.m. tonight to stay on track. We have a ways to go, so I would sure appreciate your support (seriously, whatever you can contribute) using this link: https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/abby-finkenauer-email

This is personal for me. Working families are my family, and Sen. Grassley has failed us for far too long. It's time for a change and time for better leadership, which is exactly why I'm determined to win. Thanks for fighting by my side.
Abby
