I need to tell you some bad news about the fossil fuel industry that will
enrage you, and then I hope you'll join me and channel what you're feeling
about this news to help save our climate.

Here's the bad news:

The CEO of giant oil company Shell announced that they are making huge
profits off of Russia's war in Ukraine. Record profits, in fact: Shell
made $9.1 BILLION in the first three months of the year.^1

Every single dollar that Shell makes puts our climate movement at a bigger
disadvantage in the fight to transition to one hundred percent renewables.
As they grow their profits, our planet and our communities pay the price.

John, I don't want you to
despair. I want to ask you to do something about it.

It's bad enough that Shell is profiting while Russia kills Ukrainian
civilians, but Shell has BIG PLANS to spend this new windfall of cash.

In fact, the dozen biggest oil companies are on track to spend
$103,000,000 every day for the rest of the decade — that means they've
already made their final financial commitment to projects that will
deliver 116 billion barrels of oil.

If the fossil fuel industry's existing projects are allowed to go forward,
it would produce enough carbon dioxide emissions to produce a "carbon
bomb" that will destroy our chances of saving the planet.^2

So we aren't going to let that happen.

Campaigners at 350.org around the world are working to stop Shell from
opening more oil fields in our oceans. We are fighting to stop the fossil
fuel industry and reverse the worst effects of the climate crisis. And we
know that a people-powered climate movement is the best chance to win
against the fossil fuel industry.
