Hey team, Christina here -- I'm Cory's Director of Millennial and Influencer Engagement!

What does that mean exactly? Well, my job is to engage millennials and make sure their perspectives are represented on our campaign. That's why I want to take a moment to share a few words with you about why I'm here trying to elect Cory Booker as the next president of the United States.

This is the first campaign I've ever worked on -- I never thought of myself as someone who'd be working on a presidential campaign. By trade, I'm a journalist -- most recently, I spent time at publications like Glamour and Essence helping to build up their political news verticals.

After the 2018 midterms, I started to think about other ways I could show up in 2020. At this particular moment, I felt I had to do my part to help put people in power who lead with empathy and humanity. Naturally, that's what led me to Cory Booker.

We won't elect an empathetic leader like Cory without your help. As I write to you, we still need to hit a big $1.5 million end-of-month goal. Will you chip in whatever you can to get us there?

One of the things that drew me to Cory is he's just a genuinely good person. He's a champion for the causes that are so important to me and so many others -- like criminal justice reform, reproductive justice, affordable housing, and undoing historically harmful policies that have left so many Americans and so many communities behind. He's a leader who understands and speaks to the issues -- addressing Black maternal mortality, supporting HBCUs, increasing police accountability, combating white nationalism, providing economic empowerment -- that I face as a Black woman in America.

Cory approaches these fights from a different angle. He understands his place and platform, which allows him to learn how to be the best ally he can be. I trust that he has my best interests at heart.

We need his voice in this race. I'm asking if you can step up today and donate $5 so we can reach our $1.5 million goal by 11:59 p.m. on Saturday.

It may be my first campaign, but I'm especially in awe of how passionate every single one of my coworkers is about making this country a better place.

My experience here has been equal parts exciting and inspiring -- folks have literally put their lives on hold to do this important work. I'm proud to have joined a campaign that is a guiding light for those of us who are ready to turn the page on the hatred and bigotry of the Trump administration.

It's been inspiring to watch this movement grow. I have a feeling the best is still yet to come.

Excited to be on this journey with you, friend,
Christina

P.S. I actually first met Cory four years ago at the Congressional Black Caucus Conference. I was still a journalist at the time and had the honor of interviewing him. Never could've imagined that a few short years later, I'd be working on his campaign to become president of the United States.
