We got some tough news when we learned that the Supreme Court is readying to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Since Texas has a “trigger ban” in place, this decision will completely ban abortion in our state, without exception for rape or incest. But we have an opportunity to channel our frustration and anger into action, and ultimately into victory. We must do so because winning political power is the only way to meet this challenge — the only way to overcome this crisis.

As governor, I will do everything in my power to guarantee that women have control over their own bodies, their own health care, their own futures. But, in order to win, I need your support to defeat Greg Abbott in November.

These extreme attacks on abortion have never been about life. If it were about life, then the current Texas governor wouldn’t allow so many kids to die in the foster care system in Texas — the worst run foster care program in the United States. This is about control. And this is about power.

Our side — the side of the people who believe in democracy, the constitution, and the rights of our fellow Americans — has to get serious about political power. It’s on us, the people of Texas. We must do everything in our power to organize, win, and protect reproductive health care.
