Yesterday, a white supremacist in tactical gear entered a grocery store in a predominantly Black neighborhood in Buffalo, NY and opened fire with an assault weapon – he killed 10 people and injured three more. This is the deadliest mass shooting this year.
This is a hate crime. This is domestic terrorism. This is an epidemic.
Tragically, this isn’t new. We’ve seen how white supremacy is made more deadly with assault weapons time and time again: When a gunman targeted the Asian-American community in Atlanta, GA last year; When a gunman targeted the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, PA in 2018; When a gunman opened fire in a Black church in Charleston, SC in 2015.
Violent extremists will continue to use assault rifles to kill as many people as possible, as quickly as possible, unless we finally get these weapons of war off our streets. It is more urgent than ever for our lawmakers to ban assault weapons and protect our country from more death.
Will you add your name to our emergency petition right now and call on our lawmakers to pass an assault weapons ban right now? [[link removed]]
