Friend, I love running.
And I don’t just mean for governor of Maryland. Over the years, I’ve run 2 marathons, the Cherry Blossom 10K in Washington DC, the occasional 5K and Turkey Trot, and — my personal favorite — the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Across the Bay 10K.
One thing I’ve learned from my time as a runner is that you can’t go from 1 mile a day to a big race the next — you need to train every day and reach your mileage goals every week. Otherwise, you risk pulling a muscle, injuring yourself, or just setting yourself up to fail because your body simply isn’t prepared.
It’s the same thing with running for governor, friend.
Our campaign is headed into the final stretch ahead of our biggest fundraising deadline yet on June 7th, and we can’t wait until the day before to raise our entire $500,000 online fundraising goal.
If we’re going to pull this off — and I know we can — we need to consistently hit our daily and weekly goals so we can gradually work our way up there.
Tonight at midnight we have a critical mid-month deadline, and just between us, we still have a ways to go to reach our goal of 14 first-time donors before then. Can you pitch in to help?
One reason I was drawn to running is the ability to surprise yourself and those around you by reaching bold goals that no one thought you could achieve. That happened back in January when we raised over $2.5 million, the second most of ANY candidate in the primary — and I know with your support we can pull it off again.
If you’re with us, can I count on you to make your first donation before MIDNIGHT TONIGHT?
Thanks for running alongside me in this movement,
John King
