Hi John,

I wanted to take a minute to make sure our supporters are up to speed on the threats we’re monitoring and the work we’re doing to counter them and defend our democracy. I’ve got some good news and bad news in the fight for fair maps, and then a quick update on what’s next.

(But if you’re already fully up to date and just want to pitch in to power the NDRC’s work to end GOP gerrymandering, you can click here to donate now!)

I’ll start with the good news: Right now, nationwide, we’re looking at the most fair maps we’ve seen in a generation. After Republicans and pundits alike predicted certain defeat for U.S. House Democrats, the NDRC’s efforts (powered by supporters like you) have helped ensure Republicans will have to compete on a more even playing field this November.

But here’s the bad news: Even though we’ve had big wins in some states, we’re facing big setbacks in others. In Florida, Ron DeSantis vetoed his own party’s maps because they weren’t gerrymandered enough . The final result is a map that dismantles Black opportunity districts and effectively hands 71% of the state’s US House districts to the GOP! (A court has ruled that sections of that map are likely unconstitutional.)

The gains we’ve made are real, but they’re fragile. So, our fight continues: Our affiliates are working on pending litigation in states across the country that will affect maps in the 2022 and 2024 elections, and we’re doubling down on our work to elect Democrats who will champion fair maps.

But we need you with us in this fight, John. Will you pitch in to the NDRC today to help power our efforts and give us the resources we need to end GOP gerrymandering?

Garrett
