Hi – it’s Jessica Post, president of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, the official committee in charge of electing Democrats to state legislatures. I know the recent news has been heartbreaking – people across the country share in the devastation that the Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Just this year, state Republicans have introduced 86 bills across 31 states that would ban abortion.

Democrats across 16 states have passed laws to protect the right to an abortion – securing abortion access in their state even if Roe were to fall.

You can still make a difference even with efforts to codify Roe stalling at the federal level. By coming together to elect more pro-reproductive rights Democrats to state legislatures and governorships in this year’s midterm elections, we can expand and protect abortion access across the country.

Building our Democratic power in statehouses across the country is the key to fighting back against this right-wing attack on our right to choose, and the most meaningful way to protect safe and legal access to abortion.
