Friends, I believe as leaders we must unite under the guiding principles of our nation.
Individuals who hold public office, regardless of party or position, are given a public trust and should not succumb to using hateful rhetoric and language to divide our nation. Instead, our leaders must use their voices to support policies that unite our communities through civility, dignity, and respect.

This current rancor and rhetoric puts our country in danger of eliminating the great strides we have made in progress for women’s equality, civil rights, the labor movement, and access to health care and a quality education.
Each and every person is worthy of being treated with respect. As leaders, we must commit to being catalysts for bringing our community together for the greater good and build on our country’s history of progress.
