John,

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about where we are in this historic
moment, and I wanted to share some thoughts with you.

I’ve thought about the fatigue that sets in during any long, protracted
campaign. Even one as consequential as the campaign we are waging for our
democracy.

And I wish I could tell you that defeating Donald Trump in 2020 would have
permanently shut him out of the political conversation about our nation’s
future.

After all that he put the nation through.

But that simply isn’t being realistic. And while wishful thinking can be a
temporary respite from the stress and the stakes of this present moment,
we must be clear-eyed about where we are today. And the stakes moving
forward.

After Trump’s election in 2016, we faced a massive challenge: Republican
majorities in the House and Senate, an open Supreme Court seat Mitch
McConnell had denied to Democrats, and the most corrupt presidency in
American history.

And for two years, we took it on the chin as Trump banned Muslims from
entering this country, banned transgender soldiers from serving in the
military, separated children from their parents, and sought to destroy the
institutions that have undergirded our democracy for centuries.

But we also fought back, and we won. It didn’t happen overnight — nothing
does in politics. But one victory at a time...

Defeating Trump’s effort to destroy the Affordable Care Act and saving
health care for millions.

The 2017 Alabama special election for U.S. Senate that Democrats won
against all odds.

The 2018 midterms that flipped the House.

The improbable victories in Georgia and Arizona that flipped four
Republican Senate seats in GOP strongholds, and delivered the White House
for President Biden.

These victories tell a story. A story of a people determined not to allow
Donald Trump and Republicans to run roughshod over our Constitution and
our country’s character.

So I want to tell you today that it’s alright if you’re feeling fatigued.
I get that. Completely. Because the beauty of being part of a grassroots
movement is that when we tire, others are there to pitch in until we have
caught our breath.

And when you’re ready, you can pick up again where you left off.

In 2018, millions of women led the way with marches that began during
Trump’s inauguration and carried the midterms to a historic victory. We
can do it again, and with the Supreme Court’s disastrous draft opinion
criminalizing health care — we must.

[ [link removed] ]So no matter where you are today, John, I’m humbly asking if
you will make a contribution of any amount to our campaign — so that we
can continue our work together. Because staying together is the only way
forward.

We’ve made a lot of important progress in the last few years. We closed
the chapter on the Trump presidency, but the rest of the story has yet to
be written.

I hope you’ll remain by my side as we write it together.

Thanks,

— Adam
