Dear People For Supporter,

Are you still reeling from the leaked Supreme Court draft decision that
will end Roe v. Wade? I know I am.

The stakes in this November’s midterm elections were already incredibly
high. Now, with the end of Roe v. Wade seemingly imminent, it’s clear that
EVERY race on the ballot, at EVERY level of government, will determine the
future of our reproductive rights and health. That’s because once abortion
is no longer protected as a constitutional right, it will be state and
local laws that will dictate whether or not bodily autonomy is recognized.

But if we mobilize a powerful electoral groundswell – which is exactly
what People For the American Way is working tirelessly to do – then we can
codify the right to choose into federal law!

Of course, we need to do EVERYTHING we possibly can to create record voter
turnout in November. The stakes could not be higher – so whether it’s
phone banking, door knocking, letter writing, or simply helping your
progressive and independent friends get out to vote, we ALL have a big
role to play in getting voters to cast their ballots this year. (Please
watch this space; People For will continue to bring you the best of those
opportunities as we head toward Election Day.)

The choice that every voter needs to be made aware of this fall is now
crystal clear: will we elect progressive leaders who will fight to protect
Americans’ fundamental right to abortion care and reproductive freedom? Or
far-right extremists who will do all they can to criminalize abortion,
deny people their fundamental rights, and impose their religious beliefs
on others?
