Hello,

2016 was the first year I ran for Senate – and it was a bad year for Democrats. My race wasn’t called until late the next day, after my Republican opponent called me to concede.

We had flipped New Hampshire’s Senate seat from red to blue by just 1,017 votes.

I say "we" flipped because no one wins by 1,017 votes on their own. My staff, volunteers, and family will tell you that after we won, I thanked them for the part they played in winning one of the closest Senate races in history. We truly wouldn’t have persevered without them.

If each and every person who helped by donating, knocking doors, or calling voters hadn’t done what they did for our campaign, I would have lost.

Unbelievably, the stakes are higher now than they were six years ago. The most recent public poll shows me down by two points to an anti-choice opponent, and political experts from Rachel Maddow to Nate Silver's 538, are saying I have a difficult reelection fight ahead of me. Knowing what the margins in my last race were, I can’t win – and protect Democrats’ Senate majority – without you. Yes, you, and our grassroots supporters.

It’s not hyperbole to say that this election could come down to what you do right now. I’m counting on you.

Please donate $3 or any amount that works for you before our upcoming deadline to help us win in purple New Hampshire and stop Mitch McConnell from regaining a Republican majority in the Senate.
