Friends, gun deaths in the US just reached their highest level ever.

A new article in the New York Times outlines the “historic increase” in gun violence that occurred in the first year of the pandemic, citing new data released by the CDC.

I won’t mince words. This is unacceptable.

I have long urged my colleagues in Congress to take concrete action to curb gun violence, from banning assault weapons to creating an active shooter alert system. We cannot do nothing as more and more Americans lose their lives.
