Every child in Kentucky deserves access to quality education. That's why, as governor, Andy has worked to ensure our schools have the funding they need and teachers receive the pay they deserve. But Republicans in the state legislature have made it clear they're not on the side of our children and educators.
This year alone, Republicans tried passing a harmful tax break that would reduce local and school tax revenues by $2.5 million annually. They also gave themselves raises, while voting against giving teachers a raise. And they funded for-profit charter schools that lack accountability and will hurt our public schools.
It's clear: our teachers and our children's education are not Republicans' priority.
Andy believes we should be investing in public education by funding universal pre-K and teacher pay raises. He's worked to improve public schools across the Commonwealth, and he's already made great progress. Here's just some of what he's accomplished:
✅ Reorganized the state board of education and appointed new members who support public education,
✅ Waived testing fees for all first time GED takers,
✅ Introduced an "education first" budget proposal that increases education spending by $400 million and includes much-deserved raises for our teachers,
✅ Developed the Commonwealth Education Continuum to help students through transition points in their education.
We've accomplished a lot so far, but there's still more work to be done. From cutting down class sizes to reducing excessive testing and expanding medical and mental health support for our students, Andy will continue to work to make our public schools the best they can be. Our children and families deserve it.
Andy is fighting to make the Bluegrass State the best place it can be for generations to come, and he needs you on board. Chip in today to become a founding donor of Andy's re-election campaign.
