Africa & Europe
Please pray for witnesses in cases of violence against women and children in Uganda. Oftentimes witnesses are hesitant to come forward for fear of security or issues of witness intimidation. To mitigate this, IJM works with partners to trace the witnesses and provide support, and ultimately encourage witnesses to testify to bring justice for the victims. Join us in praying for strength for these individuals, and for justice to prevail in open cases.
Latin America
Please pray for staff and contractors that come into contact daily with survivor stories. Working regularly with stories of violence can cause secondhand trauma for our workers. We are praying for protection for their minds and hearts, and that they would be encouraged to access resources that IJM makes available to them for their mental wellbeing.
South Asia
Please pray for relief for the intense heat wave hitting South Asia. Some cities are regularly hitting 120 degrees every day. Heat like this can cause farms and other businesses to fail, which leaves families desperate and more vulnerable to human trafficking or debt bondage. Pray for protection over these families and for quick, cooling relief to come soon.
Southeast Asia
Praise God for continued awareness of the online sexual exploitation of children in the Philippines! BBC World Service released a radio feature that included the story of Ruby, a survivor of online sexual exploitation, who was rescued by the collaborative effort of IJM and the Philippine authorities. Pray that the Lord uses this outlet to bring awareness of this issue and to build an army of people to fight for the rights of the victims.
