Hi John,
Fossil fuel companies are using the Energy Charter Treaty (ECT), a giant corporate court deal, to threaten governments taking climate action.

But we can stop it – and a crunch decision point is approaching. Join a Europe-wide online rally with inspiring speakers from five countries to hear more.

** Online rally: Climate goals held to ransom
------------------------------------------------------------
* When: Wednesday 18 May, 6pm BST
* Where: online on Zoom
* Speakers:
+ Carola Rackete, ecologist and Sea-Watch ship captain
+ Brenda Akankunda, lawyer and trade analyst with SEATINI Uganda
+ Fernando Valladares, research professor in global change ecology
+ Camille Étienne, climate and social justice activist
+ Jeremy Corbyn, MP for Islington North

All across Europe groups have come together to call on their governments to exit the ECT.

It’s the fossil fuel industry’s dirty secret, allowing companies to sue countries for billions in secret tribunals over the climate policies they don’t like.

But it’s zero hour for the ECT. Many governments are on the verge of exiting the deal, so their climate goals can’t be held to ransom by foreign corporations.

This Wednesday 18 May, hear from a panel of climate leaders on why we must leave the ECT and end climate-destroying corporate courts for good.

We look forward to welcoming you to the online event, which will have interpretation in English, French and Spanish. It is organised in collaboration with War on Want, Attac Austria, Climate Action Network (CAN) Europe, Ecologistas en Acción, Friends of the Earth Europe, Powershift, Seattle to Brussels Network, and WeMove.

Hope to see you there!

Regular gifts give us the long-term stability to plan effective campaigns for a more just world, as well as to react to damaging trade deals with speed and strength.
