Dear John: Christine Drazan is a pro-life leader who has the endorsement and support of Oregon Right to Life PAC as one of four strong, pro-life candidates in the race for governor. I have worked with Christine during her service in the legislature, including during her time as the House Republican Leader. Time and again, she has demonstrated her unequivocal commitment to pro-life values. I wanted to reiterate the endorsement of Oregon Right to Life PAC for Christine Drazan today because one of her opponents has launched a negative attack against her campaign, specifically on her pro-life record. The assertion in the ad that Christine has “no opinion” on abortion is false. While it is not uncommon for these kinds of political ads to start flying as we get closer to Election Day, I do not want members of the pro-life community to be confused about where Christine stands. She is a champion for life and always has been. That is why we endorsed her in 2018, in 2020, and again in this year’s race for governor. As the House Republican Leader, Christine brought Born Alive Protection legislation to the floor of the Oregon House, forcing Democrats to confront their indefensible position on whether a newborn infant has a right to life. She voted against Democrats’ extreme abortion-on-demand agenda—Oregon already has the most liberal abortion laws in the nation—and as governor, will veto any future attacks on the right to life. As a mother of three, Christine understands the importance of making it easier for women to choose life by advocating for the support they need when it feels like the responsibility of motherhood is too much, and to promote adoption as the loving and lifesaving option it is. Please do not let these negative attack ads ruin your opinion of Christine Drazan. She would be a tremendous pro-life governor and advocate for our community.
