John, are you feeling lucky today?
This week, on the Senate floor, McConnell mused about passing a national abortion ban but promised, “I will never -- never -- support smashing the legislative filibuster on this issue or any other.”
It could be the Friday-the-13th vibes, but we’re not willing to roll the dice on a Mitch McConnell promise.
Maybe Mitch thinks we’ve forgotten that he once promised he wouldn’t throw out the filibuster rule for passing Supreme Court appointees – until he packed the court with a radical right-wing supermajority.
We put as much stock in Mitch McConnell’s word as we put in Joe Manchin’s pledge to support Build Back Better last year – that is, none whatsoever.
It’s up to us to put an end to this dysfunction and corruption in the U.S. Senate, John.
Brand New Congress has two Senate candidates on the ballot this coming Tuesday, and we need your help to turn out the vote. Can you pitch in $25, $10, or even $5 now?
If we’re waiting on these two to do the right thing, we’ll be waiting a long, long time.
