In case
you missed it, Alexandria made two major endorsements for Congress earlier
this week: Summer Lee and Nida Allam!

Both of these candidates have major momentum. And, yesterday, Senator
Bernie Sanders joined Summer’s final rally in Pittsburgh to show his
support for her candidacy (he’s previously endorsed Nida as well!). But
they’re up against huge outside spending — nearly $5 million combined
against them.

Here is a little more info about these candidates:

Nida Allam: Nida is running in North Carolina’s 4th district. This seat
opened up for the first time in years when Democrat David Price announced
his retirement. If elected, Nida will be the youngest woman ever elected
to Congress at just 28 years old (a title previously held by Alexandria at
29) – and the first Pakistani-American member.

In 2020, Nida ran an unprecedented progressive campaign for Durham County
Commissioner, where she became the first Muslim woman elected to public
office in North Carolina where she fought to raise the minimum wage and
provide property tax relief for low-income people. Now she is ready to
fight for a progressive agenda in Congress.

Summer Lee: Summer is running in Pennsylvania’s 12th district. With
longtime Democrat Mike Doyle retiring – Pittsburgh will elect a new
representative in Congress for the first time in 25 years.

As a Pennsylvania state legislator and dedicated organizer, activist, and
attorney – Summer has fought tirelessly to lift up movements and transform
her community. When she first ran for State House in 2018, she took on a
20-year incumbent, doubled voter turnout, and won. Now, she is running for
Congress to deliver for the working class.

at them, and we need to send them as much grassroots support as possible.
