Only two days after a draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade leaked, Republicans in the Louisiana House advanced a bill that would classify abortion as homicide and allow prosecutors to criminally charge people.

Let’s be clear: criminalizing abortion does not put an end to abortion.

It only makes it more difficult for the people of Louisiana to seek the healthcare they need and it will have the biggest impact on marginalized communities.

This is why we need to protect and expand our congressional majorities. With an expanded majority, we can finally codify Roe v. Wade and fight back against extremists. Please help us get there and contribute today.

Without Roe v. Wade protecting Americans, anti-abortion lawmakers are free to write and pass legislation treating abortion as homicide.

Republicans will not stop in Louisiana. Mitch McConnell has already signaled he is willing to pass a nationwide abortion ban if they win the majority this year.
