PHOENIX — Governor Doug Ducey ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Sunday, May 15, in honor of National Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week.
“No matter the threat, challenge or obstacle, peace officers selflessly answer the call to serve and protect our communities. Arizona’s brave men and women in uniform represent the best of the best — without a doubt,” said Governor Ducey. “As we recognize National Peace Officers Memorial Day and enter Police Week, we honor our law enforcement heroes who laid down their lives to protect others and those who continue to put the safety of fellow Arizonans first. Earlier this month at the 48th Annual Peace Officers Memorial Service, I was honored to pay tribute to the 26 lives lost in the line of duty in 2021. It was a sobering reminder of the ultimate sacrifice men and women of law enforcement make every single day. Arizona will never forget those who lost their lives in the line of duty, and we thank those who put on the uniform every day and make our state a safer place.”
