Now more than ever, we’ve got to support abortion funds to ensure that people can access abortion care.  

The Michigan WIN Fund helps cover the cost of the clinic fee for abortion care, as well as other needs such as childcare support, lodging, food, and transportation costs to and from the clinic (which can be over 100 miles).

Can you chip in $5 or more to the Michigan WIN Fund to help pregnant people access abortion care?

Access to safe abortion care is already hard for many people under Roe v. Wade. If we lose those protections, it will get much harder.

Some of the barriers that pregnant people have to overcome to access abortion care include:

• Raising funds in time to have their abortion when income is low
• Transportation to and from the clinic, which can be over 100 miles and in another state
• Extended time away from work that could lead to job loss
• Childcare needs when they may be gone for over 24 hours

This is especially hard for low-income people and people of color who already face barriers to accessing healthcare due to systemic racism.

For example, in my hometown of Detroit, pregnant Black women are 4.5 times more likely to die of pregnancy-related complications than white women. In the U.S., Black infants are twice as likely to die as white infants. This is unacceptable.

If the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, it will endanger millions of people’s lives, particularly in already-marginalized communities.

One of the best ways to fight back right now is by supporting abortion care directly through abortion funds.
