Dear People For Supporter –
Yesterday, the bipartisan House Select Committee investigating the events of January 6 issued subpoenas to five current members of the House of Representatives, including Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. But so far, these members have yet to indicate that they will comply.
There’s zero question about the legality of the subpoenas from this duly-constituted, bipartisan committee – and in his role as Minority Leader, Rep. McCarthy bears a unique responsibility to honor and uphold the special oversight duties of the House of Representatives.
Let’s recall, of course, that in 2015 Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appeared before the House Select Committee investigating Benghazi – and answered questions under oath for 11 straight hours.
Let’s also remember that the seditious conspiracy leading to the deadly insurrection of January 6th was nearly successful – and that evidence of top-level Republican involvement in the conspiracy is already in the public record.
If Minority Leader McCarthy has nothing to hide and wants to set the record straight, now is his chance.
The Select Committee’s next set of public hearings is slated to begin on June 9, and – based on information that’s publicly available – promises to deliver explosive revelations about the Trump administration's efforts to overturn the election results, how law enforcement agencies prepared for and responded to the attack on our U.S. Capitol, and the financing behind the January 6 rallies from which the attack flowed.
If Rep. McCarthy was sincere when taking his oath of office, he’ll realize that he has a special responsibility to help the Select Committee uncover the truth and root out the conspiracy that almost overthrew our democratically-elected government.
