John -- The reports that the U.S. Supreme Court is likely to overturn Roe make it as clear as ever that our democracy is in a perilous state.
The draft decision reinforces the notion that this is a Supreme Court majority increasingly willing to put its legitimacy at risk, shift its duty to protect our rights back to the states, and ignore the will of the people.
And make no mistake: the inhumane invasions of privacy enabled by this type of court ruling are not supported by a majority of the people.

Texas and Ohio are two states that either could ban abortion almost immediately following a decision overturning Roe, or are at a high risk to do so shortly after. They’re also two states where we’re actively challenging gerrymandered state legislative maps in court.
To be clear, I’m under no illusions that lawsuits to demand fair districts in these states can alleviate the pain this reported ruling will cause. There are organizations doing incredible work to provide immediate relief to those who will be hurt by restricted abortion access -- and you can chip into a number of those organizations here.
When faced with troubling developments like those presented by the Court’s draft opinion, we have to ground ourselves in two truths: our democracy is under attack, and it will take all of us to protect it.
