The Week in Review
Happy Friday!
I spent my week in Washington D.C. as the House was back in session. It was a busy week, so I hope you’ll read below to learn about the important happenings:
FBI/DOJ Overreach on America's Press Hearing
On Tuesday, I held a hearing to address the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau Investigation (FBI)’s overreach on America’s press. The hearing featured prominent Republican lawmakers who are House Freedom Caucus members and serve on the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees.
Project Veritas President James O’Keefe, Emmy-Award Investigative Journalist Sharyl Attkisson, and Harmeet Dhillon, Attorney and CEO for the Center for American Liberty, provided testimony at the hearing.
The event examined the abusive tactics employed by the DOJ and FBI and their efforts to circumvent the judicial system to perpetuate these injustices. My congressional colleagues and I will take this information to draft legislation to prevent future abuses, and to conduct further oversight to hold those accountable who have abused their authority.
I’d like to thank our witnesses, my congressional colleagues, my staff, and FreedomWorks for making this event a success.

Holding the CDC More Accountable
The COVID-19 pandemic has proven the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is a deeply flawed agency. CDC bureaucrats have published confusing guidance, acted outside their legal authority, undermined efforts to reopen schools, and shockingly allowed political organizations to edit official guidance. Recent reporting regarding alleged data mining and tracking of Americans’ cell phone locations only adds to these concerns.
I led an effort this week, along with Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) and House Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer (R-Ky.), asking Oversight and Reform Committee Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) and Select Subcommittee Chairman James Clyburn (D-S.C.) to hold an oversight hearing to examine the CDC’s many failures during the pandemic.
The full letter may be read here.
In addition to this hearing, I joined Congressman Jody Hice’s (R-Ga.) efforts to investigate the CDC’s reported tracking of location data from millions of Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic.
If this report is true, the CDC committed gross violations of the 4th Amendment and must be held accountable.
The full letter may be read here.
Police Appreciation Week
This week marked the start of National Police Week and I am making sure law enforcement officers receive the recognition and respect they’ve earned. Law enforcement officers put their lives on the line to keep our communities, towns, and cities safe.
As part of my appreciation for these officers, I sent President Biden a letter urging him to light the White House blue on May 15, 2022, for Peace Officers Memorial Day. I hope Biden gives them the honor they deserve. The letter may be read here.
I also had the wonderful opportunity to meet with the Chandler Police Cadets and representatives of the Mesa Honor Guard in my D.C. office today and thanked them for their service.
Arizona Dodie Londen Excellence in Public Service
Yesterday, I met with a group of women from Arizona’s Dodie Londen Excellence in Public Service Series.
The program offers monthly training sessions that provide an opportunity for women from around Arizona to engage in learning experiences taught by state and national leaders in their field. Each May, the National Excellence in Public Service Series Federal Government training takes place in Washington.
I’d like to thank this group for stopping by and chatting with me about our political climate today.

Definition of the Week
President Biden has created a supply chain crisis where most stores across the country are facing baby formula shortages. Even worse, reports now say that some of the limited baby formula has been sent to the southern border to assist with the humanitarian needs of Biden’s border crisis.
President Biden and his administration have not offered any immediate solutions to address this troubling crisis. It is also unclear when this crisis is expected to end.

Baby formula: A strong indicator of a healthy economy.
