ADL Welcomes Deborah Lipstadt as Antisemitism Envoy
ADL welcomed Dr. Deborah Lipstadt’s swearing in as the State Department’s Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism.


“We’re thrilled to finally be able to congratulate Ambassador Lipstadt on her new position,” said Jonathan A. Greenblatt, ADL CEO. “As recent research from ADL and many of our partners globally demonstrates, antisemitic incidents are on the rise. It’s critical that we now have someone as qualified and respected as her to champion this cause and support Jewish communities around the world. We look forward to working with her.”


ADL has extensively advocated for Congress and the Biden Administration to fill this role. More than 5,000 ADL volunteer leaders have sent more than 11,000 messages to their Senators and met with 35 Senate offices in support of Dr. Lipstadt’s rapid confirmation.

Tell Congress: Secure our Synagogues and Schools
Pittsburgh, Poway, Colleyville -- these tragedies are burned into our memories. Religious institutions across the country are plagued with fear that they will be the next target to make headlines, and have no choice but to expend precious resources to keep their members safe. But for many of these congregations and schools, such investments – double glass doors, security guards, emergency training – deplete already stretched budgets.


The Nonprofit Security Grant Program provides critical reimbursements for these measures, but the funds allocated are simply not sufficient to meet the need. Every year, hundreds of millions of dollars in applications are submitted by synagogues, schools, churches, mosques, gurdwaras and community centers. But too many organizations' security needs go unmet. A significant increase in funding is sorely needed at this time of increased vulnerability to threats of hate-motivated violence. Congress must act now. Please urge your members of Congress to do more to protect all communities from threats like the one we saw in Colleyville and increase funding for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program
to $360 million.
