Five Tips for Making This Thanksgiving One of the Best Ones Ever

Thanksgiving is one of the great American holidays, a time dedicated to the deliberate expression of gratitude to the Lord for this country and our many blessings.
If you’re like my wife, Jean, you’ve been shopping and preparing the last few days. Perhaps you’ve cleared your house of extra clutter, wiped the fingerprints off the fridge and aired out the stuffy guest room. The serving platters are out of storage and your overnight guests might even be on their way.
And while it all seems to be arranged, there is one more thing to prepare for: the Thanksgiving Day meal itself.
But I don’t mean cooking the turkey … I mean the actual sitting down and talking.

We’re told time and again that America was founded as a secular society, and that our Founding Fathers were deists. Yet, the history of Thanksgiving Day shows precisely the opposite. Early Americans, and great presidents like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, all celebrated Thanksgiving in some form with the purpose of expressing gratitude to Almighty God. Parents, “You Don’t Know What’s Best for Your Kids”

Parents with students attending Willis High School in Texas were surprised and upset to find out that a drag queen performer, with the stage name “Lynn Adonis-Deveaux,” had been on campus to teach students in a cosmetology class how to apply makeup.
When some parents protested, Anthony Lane, an English teacher at the high school, fanned the flames of controversy with a Facebook post. He wrote: “I believe that raising a child is the responsibility of the community, and that parents should not have the final say. Let’s be honest, some of you don’t know what’s best for your kids.” |

New Survey Shows Public Support for Religious Freedom has Survived the Culture Wars

A new survey and analysis of public support for various aspects of religious freedom in the United States was recently released by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty (Becket), one of the nation’s premier public interest law firms dedicated to our First Amendment’s guarantee of this core right.
The report, entitled “2019 Religious Freedom Index: American Perspectives on the First Amendment,” surveyed a nationally representative sample of 1000 American adults, and is the first annual attempt by Becket to gauge the current and ongoing state of the importance of religious liberty in America. |
