Mobilizing in May for #NY4All

On May 24th, we are heading to Albany to call for passage of the New York for All Act ([link removed]) , a bill that would help end the harmful collusion between local law enforcement and ICE. The May action comes on the heels of a Virtual Lobby Day, held on April 20th, when 50 advocates and community members met with legislators across the state. The New York City Council also passed a resolution in support of the NY4All Act on April 28th. Speaking Out for Clemency Justice
On May 4th, IDP took part in a powerful day of action in support of the Clemency Justice Act ([link removed]) in Albany. Directly impacted individuals and their loved ones spoke out on the urgent need for lawmakers to pass the bill which would finally bring transparency to a system that allows people to seek protection from deportation and incarceration. NY Senate Passes Court Notifications Bill

Now, all eyes are on the NY Assembly! Read more about the legislation along with our other legislative priorities here ([link removed]) .

Fighting for Motions to Reopen

In an ongoing campaign ([link removed]) to ensure that immigrants see the full benefits of post-conviction relief, resentencing and criminal justice reform, IDP filed an amicus brief ([link removed]) with the Harvard Crimmigration Clinic at the Board of Immigration Appeals. We argued that the Board must reopen removal proceedings in cases where a person’s conviction has been vacated.

New Listserv on Post-Conviction Relief
