I’m Congresswoman Katherine Clark from Massachusetts' 5th Congressional District, and I also serve as the Assistant Speaker of the House of Representatives. I have some exciting news and wanted to make sure you were the first to hear it:
Today, I’m endorsing my friend Maura Healey in her campaign for Governor of Massachusetts.
I first met Maura when we worked together at the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. Looking back now at Maura’s brilliant leadership of the Civil Rights Division, I can see that the groundwork was being laid for this moment.
The stakes are high, and we can’t take anything for granted. At this critical moment, when legal abortion access, voting rights, and so many of our freedoms are hanging in the balance and families are struggling with high costs, we need a Governor who is on our side.
I still consider Maura a coworker. We have both served the people of Massachusetts for many years now and have had a chance to collaborate on some of the most pressing issues facing our Commonwealth:

- ➡️ Advocating for high quality, affordable child care to support women and working families.
- ➡️ Fighting to protect our right to abortion and reproductive health care.
- ➡️ Addressing the climate crisis to build a greener future and support environmental justice communities.
Maura has what it takes to deliver for our families as the next Governor of Massachusetts.
Fighting for women, children, and families is why I first ran for Congress – it’s my mission to build a stronger, more just country where every person has a fair shot at success. But that doesn’t happen without partners at every level of government. I’ve been fortunate to team up with incredible leaders at home, like Maura, who ensure that Washington is meeting the needs of the people of Massachusetts.
Together, we’ve pushed for investments in child care, tackled food insecurity, fought for health care as a right, not a privilege, and stood shoulder to shoulder advocating for gun violence prevention.
I was excited to hear the news that my friend, Maura, was planning to run for Governor – but it’s been even more inspiring to see the energy she has sparked throughout the Commonwealth. Maura sees your family. She will fight for us in the tough battles ahead. That’s why, like Maura, I’m all in.
