Oil and Gas Industry is breathing down the White House's neck. Help LCV fight back.? ? ? ? Friend ? Late Friday, the American Petroleum Institute, which lobbies for the biggest oil and gas polluters, sent a letter to the White House pressuring Trump to clear the way for new pipeline projects ? fast.

They're demanding a total gut job on the National Environmental Policy Act ? a bedrock environmental law that requires the federal government to study the environmental impacts of projects and consider public input before they can proceed. If the polluters succeed, they will effectively take all the teeth out of the environmental review process.

This is just weeks after the Keystone Pipeline burst in North Dakota, spilling more than 383,000 gallons of oil into nearby wetlands. With impeachment hearings heating up and the scandal of another major spill, oil and gas insiders have realized they may have a shorter window than they thought to stymie science and public input to unfairly tip the scales towards a green light on their projects.

We need to mobilize ? fast ? before Trump rips these environmental review laws to shreds and paves the way for more pipelines. We need to be throwing up everything to stop Trump now ? we're asking every LCV member to pitch in to make that possible. Even $5 is enough to make a difference. A major donor is triple matching every contribution right now.

We're turning to our members to make this campaign possible. A donor has agreed to triple match every contribution through the end of the month ? please, pitch in just $5 today ? [link removed]

This is the fourth time Keystone has spilled large amounts of oil. With each spill, initial estimates were drastically lower than the actual damage ? this is bad, and it's going to get worse.

Friend ? I want you to know, this isn't the only urgent environmental fight we're up against right now. The EPA just announced it will allow coal companies to leave toxic waste sitting in storage ponds, where it can seep into our groundwater and nearby water bodies. And Trump just filed the paperwork to officially pull the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Agreement.

What happens next is up to the environmental movement. We have a real shot at saving critical environmental review processes and stopping Keystone XL. We CAN hold the EPA to its mission. We CAN uphold the promises of the Paris Climate Agreement to fight climate change, whether Trump likes it or not. But it will only happen if we organize in a major way, and only if we do it now.

That's why we're turning to you, friend. If everyone reading this email pitched in just $5, we'd blow through our fundraising goal in seconds.

URGENT: Donate $5 today and your contribution will be triple matched ? [link removed]

Thank you for everything that you do. We're going up against some of the deepest pockets in the Big Polluter industry ? but we've got a real shot at winning thanks to your support.

Sincerely,
