Moments ago, my colleague and friend Senator Bernie Sanders reintroduced
the Medicare for All Act in the U.S. Senate. This legislation would
completely overhaul our broken, for-profit healthcare system — instead, it
would create a single-payer system that guarantees comprehensive health
care coverage not tied to your job.

I'm proud to stand with Bernie today and say that once and for all, health
care is a human right. It's time we joined nearly every other wealthy
country across the globe and ensure all people have access to high
quality, affordable health care.

I believe no person should go into debt for accessing the care they need. 

No person should avoid necessary medical treatment because they are afraid
they cannot afford it.

No person should be forced to beg friends and neighbors for money for
expensive treatment.

These are not radical beliefs — and by passing Medicare For All, we would
ensure that no one in our country is subjected to the crushing costs of
for-profit healthcare, and that all Americans have equitable access to
life-sustaining care and resources.
