An extremist minority is blocking access to safe and legal abortion, supported by a majority of the American people. This is why so many young people and working people have given up on the government – it’s not working for us.

Meanwhile, young people and our movement have taken the fight to our own communities, knowing what we have now is not enough. We cannot stop fighting when our rights are under attack.

How can Democrats just give up and claim their hands are tied when a vote like this fails? Our rights and our democracy are literally being ripped away, and they have the power to fight. They should feel like us, infuriated, terrified, and desperate to do everything in their power to help and be there for people in their time of need.

If that really is the point of government, then Democrats must expand the court, abolish the filibuster, and stop backing anti-choice candidates. Elites built this system, but we have the power to rebuild it to work for us.

If our leaders won’t act for us, we’ll keep building the pressure until they don’t have the choice.
