I have to be honest, John – I’m downright furious right now.

A little over a week ago, the leak of a draft opinion revealed that the Supreme Court’s conservative majority were going to strip Americans of their right to a safe abortion.

Now, Senate Republicans just blocked the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would have codified Roe v. Wade into federal law.

We need to build a strong Democratic coalition in the Senate to protect abortion rights and save our democracy. Will you chip in to Democracy Defense Fund to help expand our Democratic Senate majority?

This was all part of the Republican gameplan, John

FIRST: National Republicans kept their fingers crossed in the hopes that the Supreme Court judges they rammed through Senate confirmation hearings would take away the essential right to abortion.

THEN: When SCOTUS finally did take this right away, Republican leaders tried to use smoke and mirrors to distract us from the fact that this had happened.

NOW: The GOP has blocked our best chance of codifying Roe v. Wade and they’ve ignored the voices of the majority of Americans almost 70% of whom want to see the right to a safe abortion protected under law.

Make no mistake, the outcome of yesterday’s vote is disappointing. But it also serves as further proof that this fight is going to take every last one of us to win.
