Indivisibles,
With the Republican Supreme Court’s imminent attack on Roe v Wade, in
addition to yesterday’s failed Senate vote on the Women’s Health
Protection Act, it is more important than ever that we elect strong,
progressive Democrats in November. The past few weeks have made it clear
that our margin for error is slim and that a one seat shift could mean the
difference between codifying Roe and watching Republicans strip away our
basic rights one by one until we live within their regressive, patriarchal
nightmare.
With that, Indivisible is excited to announce our next round of primary
endorsements!
These candidates all received a supermajority of votes from their local
Indivisible group followed by a supermajority of votes from Indivisibles
within their district or state. Every one of these candidates is
progressive, energized, and has committed to removal of the Hyde amendment
and other similar restrictions on abortion.
We are so grateful to the local Indivisible groups who did the work to
nominate these candidates -- this process wouldn’t have been possible
without their help every step of the way. So without further ado, here are
your endorsed candidates along with a few words from each of them:

Indivisible is proud to endorse Charles Booker (KY Senate), Brittany Ramos
DeBarros (NY-11), Teresa Leger Fernandez (NM-03), Andy Levin (MI-11), and
Litesa Wallace (IL-17).
* [ [link removed] ]Charles Booker: I am fighting to transform Kentucky's future. For
too long, Kentuckians have had to endure leadership that promotes the
wealthy but leaves the rest of us behind. We need a Kentucky New Deal
that will guarantee financial freedom, provide universal healthcare,
create good paying union jobs, enable a just transition to renewable
energy and ensure that every child has an education that can take them
to the heights of success without saddling them with overwhelming
debt. We need to come together and lock arms, to fight back against
special interests and insiders and finally bring real leadership to
Kentucky.
* [ [link removed] ]Brittany Ramos DeBarros: I’m running because members of my
community called upon me to do so. I answered that call because I am
excited to build the kind of bold, exciting Congressional campaign
that our communities have never had the chance to vote for here.
Additionally, I truly believe that if we end up with the same kind of
Democratic candidates that we’ve had before, running the same kinds of
strategies, they will lose to Malliotakis and that is a terrifying
prospect for the most vulnerable communities in our district as she
constantly votes against our rights, works to undermine democracy, and
spews hate toward immigrants, LGBTQ communities, and beyond.
* [ [link removed] ]Teresa Leger Fernandez: My love for our communities started as a
kid. I'm a 17th generation New Mexican and daughter of rural New
Mexico having been born and raised in Las Vegas, NM. I first ran for
office in 2020 to serve the communities I know and love - and you
can't serve New Mexico's third district without knowing its beauty,
but also its poverty - its challenges, and its unique opportunities.
And I have been delivering on the issues most important to New Mexico
- from building clean water infrastructure and broadband, and creating
good-paying jobs, to helping deliver the investments we need to
weather the pandemic. I am running for reelection to continue to serve
because as my father used to say, "Ahora es cuando": the time is now.
The time is now for us to keep making progress for New Mexico, making
it easier to afford a good living, from lower healthcare costs to
better quality education, to cleaner air and water.
* [ [link removed] ]Andy Levin: In 2018, I ran for Congress because as a 2 time cancer
survivor, and father of 2 kids with Crohn's disease, I couldn't stand
by while Donald Trump threatened our health care. Returning to
Congress, my top priority will be exactly what it has been for the
entire time I have been in Congress: building voice and power for
working people in individual companies, industries and the economy and
political system at large. Simply stated, there is no other member of
Congress who has devoted their life to labor law reform and building
power for workers as much as I have - at SEIU, the UAW, President
Clinton's labor law reform commission and Labor Department, and for 11
years at the AFL-CIO. I place working people at the center of every
policy decision I make to ensure good jobs for all, to advocate for
the human rights of all people here and abroad, and to stop the
oncoming catastrophe of the climate crisis.
* [ [link removed] ]Litesa Wallace: I first ran for office because as a single mom,
counselor, and educator, I saw what was happening to families in my
community and was motivated to bring the change and support we all
need. In my three terms as a state legislator, I championed criminal
justice reform, introduced measures to reduce violence, expanded
affordable child care and mental health care access, developed
opportunities for women and girls, and extended the Rivers Edge
Historic Tax Credit to help redevelop Peoria and Rockford. I am
running because our nation must hear the voices of "every day",
working class people in the halls of Congress. I want to continue to
work to amplify the voices of those typically silenced by corporate
interests or because they have been marginalized by race, class,
gender, sexual orientation, and/or ability. I have a record of
building coalitions and getting things done in Illinois's capital and
I hope to do so in our nation's capital.
Indivisible is proud to endorse these five truly progressive candidates in
a time when we so desperately need representation that backs the ideals of
the American people. We need candidates who push along with us, every day,
to be kinder, fairer, and more just by fighting for things like honest and
well-funded public education, LGBTQ+ rights, healthcare for all, and
bodily autonomy.
Thank you to all who participated in the voting process, we look forward
to continuing to promote your grassroots work to a national audience.
Every vote counts, and you are making a difference.
In solidarity,
Indivisible Team

about the process for national endorsement. We will be rolling out
endorsements about every six weeks until the last round of accepted
nominations in late August. But, the earlier you secure an endorsement,
the more time we have to work for that candidate to secure a win, so get
those endorsements in as soon as possible using [ [link removed] ]this nomination form.
