Folks,
Yesterday, the Senate voted on the Women’s Health Protection Act — the legislation that would protect the right of women to make their own reproductive health care decisions ahead of the Supreme Court’s potential reversal of Roe v. Wade .
But despite the overwhelming support the legislation has from everyday Americans and the tireless efforts of reproductive rights advocates, the bill failed to get enough votes to pass the Senate.
I’m angry. I’m disappointed. Not only with my colleagues, but on behalf of the tens of millions of vulnerable women who will be put at risk when Roe is overturned.
I want to live in a country that supports and protects women making very personal health care decisions — instead of criminalizing them, their doctors, or even their Uber drivers. And I promise I will keep fighting every day to ensure that is the kind of country we are working to become.
Over the past week, I heard from so many folks who are outraged about this decision. I want you to know that I hear you, I see you, and I appreciate your efforts. This fight isn’t over and I hope you’ll bring your energy into this next stage.
Right now, my focus is on protecting and expanding our Senate majority. We simply didn’t have the votes yesterday — but if we organize, and work hard, and pick up a few more seats this November, we might have a chance to change that.
If you’re still with me in this fight, please pitch in any amount right now to make sure the next time the Women’s Health Protection Act comes to a vote, we have the numbers we need to pass it into law. [[link removed]]

Yesterday was hard, but today we need to get up, dust ourselves off, and keep fighting.
