Friend, yesterday the Senate could have passed a law that protects the right to an abortion in
Roe v. Wade, but Senate Republicans stopped it.
Sadly, this is becoming their routine. If Senate Republicans get their way, the right to an abortion will be overturned.
Their plans to ban abortion is just not an option. New Yorkers should have the right to make their own medical decisions — including the right to safe, legal abortion services. This is a decision for a woman and her doctor, not a politician.

Make no mistake, in seeking to overturn nearly 50 years of precedent, the Supreme Court and National Republicans are attempting to reassert a social order grounded in patriarchy and male dominance over women's bodies — to a time when a married woman did not have a separate and legal existence from her husband.
I firmly believe that women across the nation should have full autonomy over their bodies, and it's all of our responsibilities to stand up and take action when that right is being threatened. In Congress, I proudly voted for the Women's Health Protection Act and as Lt. Governor, I will continue to stand for these rights.
Standing up for our rights to our bodies is only the beginning. The Supreme Court and National Republicans have made it clear that this is only the beginning of their assault on our constitutional rights and freedoms. That's why it's so important that we take a firm stance
